At the airport on Wednesday night, a fire started close to a departure gate, resulting in confusion and panic among travellers.
The fire was found around 9:10 p.m. and was put out within 30 minutes. There were no casualties reported.
The check-in procedure was briefly put on hold as eight fire tenders were sent to put out the fire.
The area in front of the 3C departure gate was covered in a thick black smoke cloud due to the fire.
Later in the evening, once all passengers had successfully evacuated, check-in was once again open.
Jyotiraditya Scindia, minister of civil aviation, called the incident disappointing but promised that everything was under control and there had been no injuries.
Although the true cause of the fire has not yet been identified, initial inquiries point to a possible short circuit as the cause of the fire.
The State Fire Services Minister dispatched more fire trucks to help fight the blaze, and an in-depth investigation will be conducted to discover what caused it.
