Chief Minister meets family of Dalit student Lalita Gautam, expresses deep grief over the incident, says: Not a single guilty person will escape
Chief Minister takes a strict stand in the Lalita Gautam case, directs action over negligence in the investigation, and instructs that the guilty be awarded the harshest punishment

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath met the family members of the late Dalit student Lalita Gautam of Meerut at the PWD Guest House in Ghaziabad on Saturday and expressed deep grief over the incident. Consoling the bereaved family, he assured them, “No person involved in this heinous crime will be spared under any circumstances, and the strictest legal action will be ensured against all those responsible.”
The Chief Minister stated, “The state government stands firmly and sensitively with the victim’s family, and no effort will be spared in ensuring that they receive justice.”
The Chief Minister directed that strict action be taken against officers and personnel found negligent at any stage of the investigation. He also instructed police officials to ensure effective prosecution and take all necessary legal measures to secure the harshest punishment for the guilty.
Providing immediate relief to the victim’s family, the Chief Minister directed that financial assistance of Rs 5 lakh be provided from the Chief Minister’s Discretionary Fund.
He also directed that housing be provided to the deceased’s father and another eligible member of the family under the Mukhyamantri Awas Yojana. In addition, he directed that the family be given priority access to all eligible beneficiary-oriented government schemes, including the Ayushman Bharat Yojana and a ration card, so that every possible assistance could be extended to them.
After meeting the Chief Minister, the deceased’s father, Ved Prakash, and her brother, Prashant, expressed confidence that justice would be delivered. They stated, “The Chief Minister listened to our pain with great patience and compassion and assured us that not a single person involved in this heinous crime will escape.”
They added that the meeting with the Chief Minister had further strengthened the family’s faith that justice would be done.
On the occasion, Social Welfare Minister and Meerut District In-charge Minister Aseem Arun, along with senior administrative and police officials, were present.
