Funeral: Telugu cinema figures and family members gathered to pay their last respects to Allu Kanakaratnam, who passed away at 94. She was the wife of Padma Shri Allu Ramalingaiah and the grandmother of popular actors Allu Arjun and Ram Charan. Her death occurred on a Saturday morning due to age-related ailments.
Ram Charan, who was shooting for his film “Peddi” in Mysore, immediately returned to Hyderabad. He appeared emotional as he paid his respects, placing rose petals on her feet. He offered condolences to the family, hugging his uncle, producer Allu Aravind.
Actors Allu Arjun and Chiranjeevi were among the pallbearers, a poignant sight for many. They, along with Ram Charan and other family members, carried the body of Allu Kanakaratnam on their shoulders. A video circulating online shows Allu Arjun, with his son Allu Ayaan, and Chiranjeevi at the front, carefully carrying the body.
Chiranjeevi shared a heartfelt note on X (formerly Twitter) about his mother-in-law, Allu Kanakaratnam. “The demise of Kanakarathnamma Garu… is extremely heartbreaking,” he wrote. He also praised her for the “love, courage, and life values” she instilled in their families.
Her mortal remains were kept at her son Allu Aravind’s home for friends and family to offer their condolences. The family has requested privacy during this difficult time.
