Yash’s ‘Toxic’ First Look Reveals Gangster Vibe, But Controversy Shadows Production

Geetu Mohandas: Bengaluru,The first glimpse of Yash’s highly anticipated film, Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown Ups, has been unveiled, offering a tantalizing look at its gangster-inspired world. However, the film’s production has also been marred by controversy, raising questions about its journey to the big screen.

The sneak peek, released on Yash’s birthday, showcases the Kannada superstar in a striking white suit and fedora, exuding an air of power and mystique within a lavish, smoky club. The scene hints at a narrative steeped in extravagance, indulgence, and a “sinful soirée” atmosphere, promising a dark and captivating “fairy tale for grown-ups.”

Gangster Vibes and Hollywood Action:

Director Geetu Mohandas appears to be drawing inspiration from classic American gangster films, creating a visually rich and atmospheric world. Adding to the film’s action credentials is the involvement of Hollywood action choreographer JJ Perry, known for his work on blockbusters like Planet of the Apes, Iron Man, and John Wick Chapter 2. This collaboration promises high-octane action sequences that will undoubtedly excite fans.

Production Details and Star Power:

Toxic is backed by KVN Productions, the banner also producing Vijay’s upcoming Thalapathy 69, and co-produced by Yash’s own Monster Mind Creations. While the official cast list remains under wraps, rumors persist about Kiara Advani playing a significant role. The makers have, however, explicitly denied the involvement of Sai Pallavi, Kareena Kapoor Khan, and Shruti Haasan, urging fans to avoid speculation.

Controversy and Release Date Uncertainty:

Despite the excitement surrounding the first look, Toxic has faced its share of challenges. In October 2024, allegations surfaced regarding illegal tree felling during filming on HMT premises in Bengaluru. While the producers have vehemently denied these accusations, the controversy has cast a shadow over the production.

Originally slated for an April 10, 2025 release, Yash recently confirmed that Toxic will hit theaters later than initially planned. This delay leaves fans eagerly awaiting a new release date announcement.

Yash’s Busy Slate: From Toxic to Ramayana

Beyond Toxic, Yash is set to portray the iconic character of Ravan in the highly anticipated pan-Indian film Ramayana, directed by Nitesh Tiwari of Dangal fame. He will share the screen with Ranbir Kapoor as Ram and Sai Pallavi as Sita. Yash is also co-producing this epic project.
